This song opens with a deceptively simple riff. The basic D major harmony (this song is one of several in open D) belies the complex 13/8 (3+3+3+4) rhythm. Though it sounds simple, this one was a nightmare to count out. The "chorus" section is a simple 4/4 strumming pattern with a few chromatic chords thrown in to break up the monotony.
